Name Savita Shah

Case A 62 year old lady presented to Dr. Sanjiv Haribhakti with gallstones and a suspicion of carcinoma gallbladder on ultrasonography and CT scan.

She was operated by Dr. Sanjiv Haribhakti on 24th February, 2004 at Jivaraj Mehta Hospital. On Laparoscopy, no mass was seen or felt. A laparoscopic Cholcystectomy was performed. On extraction and opening of the specimen, a small mass was seen in the fundal surface of gallbladder. A frozen section was performed which proved it to be adenocarcinoma. She immediately underwent laparotomy with a extended subcostal incision using the Haribhakti retractor system. A wedge resection of the liver bed and hepatoduodenal ligament lymphnode clearance was performed. Postoperative recovery was smooth without any complications. Her final histology proved it as an adenocarcinoma. She is on regular followup.
